Pizza Party (October and April)
The pizza party is held twice a year
to mark the change to and from Daylight Savings Time. Second Wind
Members celebrate by running at Meadowbrook Park then attending a Pizza Party at the Village Inn. Many
members and their families got together for good food and conversation. View

Annual Awards 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2008 at
the Urbana Civic Center
Every year in January, the Second Wind Running Club honors its members at the
Awards Banquet at the Urbana Civic Center. Members are recognized in the
following categories: runner of the year, master's runners, most improved
runner, 110% effort, new runner, and ultra runner. In addition, the top age group winners in the Race Circuit

Run with the Dogs (Summer)
Second Wind has partnered with the
Champaign County Humane Society to showcase adoptable dogs by running/walking
with the dogs on Saturday mornings at Meadowbrook Park. The schedule
varies by month.

A
group of over 40 people met at El Toro Bravo to hear from coordinators,
participants, and mentors about their experiences with training and running
the Illinois marathon and 1/2 marathon. Also discussed was the changes

Illinois Marathon: Monday, September 15, 2008
The information session on the
Illinois Marathon was held on the second floor of Jupiter's II (Windsor
and Duncan). Mark Knutson, the event manager of the Illinois marathon, talked
about the several aspects of the marathon including the development, current
status, race course, race weekend events, and future plans.

Ultramarathon Panel: Monday, August 11, 2008
The ultramarathon panel was
held on the second floor of Jupiter's II (Windsor and Duncan). The panel
consisted of veteran ultramarathoners: Bill Dey, Don Frichtl, Brian
Kuhn, Marla Luckey, and Kevin Stroud. They discussed why they
started running ultras, their training, and their favorite race. The audience asked
several good questions.

How Running
has Change over the Past 50 years, Jan Seeley: Monday, October 1, 2007
Jan Seeley, publisher and co-owner of Marathon & Beyond, discussed the fascinating changes in long distance running
over the past 5 decades. Her topics included Bone Fones, E.R.G. and popsicle
sticks in the finish chute.

Badwater
Ultramarathon, Tracy Thomas and Brian Kuhn: 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 27,
2007.
Almost 75 people met in the upstairs banquet room of The Great Impasta
to hear Brian and Tracy discuss their adventures at the 2007 Badwater
Ultramarathon.They also shared photos of the event.

Jerry Dunn, America's Marathon Man: Monday, July 30, 2007
Jerry Dunn is best
known for running 200 marathons in 2000. He is the Race Director for the
Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon and the Lean Horse Ultramarathon. Almost
50 people attended the presentation at the Fiesta Café. For more information
