Volunteers are the backbone of our club and any race. We reward our volunteers for their work through our Build a Better Second Wind program. Volunteering doesn't take much time, so please consider volunteering for one of Second Wind's races. You will earn 50 BBSW points and you could win great prizes.
A well organized race requires a team of great volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for things such as race packet pick-up, marking the course, starting the race on time, directing traffic and runners, keeping the runners hydrated on the course, manning the finish line, and cleaning up after the race.
Volunteers are always needed to help with results at Second Wind sponsored races. Training will be provided.
Have you been to any good (or bad) races lately? Do you have a race to recommend? Write a race report for the Second Wind newsletter. Email the file to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Earn points by participating in fun runs, volunteering at races, sponsoring a new member, writing a newsletter article, or attending a board meeting. No need to keep track of your points during the year. All points will be recorded by board members or coordinators. Check out the Build a Better Second Wind page for details.
NEW for 2016:
“Little Wind” Runners
Children 10 years old and under can participate in Second Wind Running Club’s “Little Wind” program! As with the “Build a Better Second Wind” program, kids get points for attending summer fun runs and volunteering at races. At the annual banquet, those who have accumulated specific levels of points will receive prizes for their participation. This is a great way to encourage your children to incorporate fitness into their lives as well as to get them active in volunteer work to better the community—and it’s also a fun activity the whole family can do together! (A parent or guardian must be present and responsible during all Second Wind activities that their “Little Wind” members participate in, and “Little Wind” members and their parent[s] or guardian[s] must be registered members of Second Wind Running Club.)
