Fall Women's Program
Our Fall 2017 program begins Tuesday, August 8.
Every year the club sponsors a Women's Running Group for those new to running, beginning in early August and ending with the Women’s Fitness 5K at Crystal Lake Park. Group meetings are held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana at the Race Street parking lot. The goal of these balanced, progressive sessions is to develop a basic running program for women who are new to running in order to prepare participants to complete their first 5K race (3.1 miles).

This is not intended for women who are looking to competitively race a 5K. You may get faster as a result, but we will focus on running for enjoyment, rather than speed. Participants should be able to walk briskly for 15-20 minutes 3-4 times per week before enrolling in this program.
The 8-week program includes group runs with experienced runners on hand to provide guidance and instruction for individual training. Guest speakers will address topics such as stretching and running form, and all participants will receive training/information packets (either electronic or print), a performance shirt, and membership in Second Wind Running Club. Each session is 30-45 minutes. Participants should be able to walk briskly for 15-20 minutes 3-4 times per week before enrolling in this program. Optional weekend walks/runs may be scheduled in different locations as well.
The cost of $40 includes individual membership in Second Wind Running Club, training plan, and a technical shirt. Race registration is not included in the cost; you do not have to run the 5K to be part of the program. Participants must be at least 16. Registration for the program closes August 15, 2017 or when registration reaches 40 participants. No refunds unless we do not meet our minimum of 8 participants. Payment is by debit/credit card only and you MUST register online!
