5 mile Trail Run and 2 mile non-competitive walk

Lake of the Woods Park in Mahomet, IL. Just 10 miles west of Champaign, IL.

Course

A 5-mile trail run and 2-mile trail walk through beautiful Lake of the Woods Park. This trail is near an old buffalo trace or trail created by a massive herd of buffalo.  The 5-mile course will traverse rolling hills, small forests, open meadows and prairie.  Remember, this is a trail race. There could be hidden rocks and roots, sharp turns, and even water or mud. Lots of fun, but be careful. The walkers will have a less challenging but still scenic route.

Directions

Mahomet is located at the intersection of I-74 and Hwy 47 about 10 miles west of Champaign. Head south on Hwy 47 (exit 172) into Mahomet. At the first stop light turn right (onto Franklin St.). Go up the hill and at the first stop sign turn right. After one block you’ll hit another stop sign—turn left onto State St. Go about half a mile on State St. and take a right on Crowley Rd. (high school on your right). Registration and check-in will be on the west side of the high school. Map.

Cost & Registration

Early Registration Deadline: $15 Postmarked by Monday, May 6  ($2 discount for Second Wind members).

Registration after May 6: $20

In-person registration: Noon-6:00 p.m. on Friday May 17 at Body n' Sole or 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Mahomet-Seymour HS parking lot.

Packet Pick-Up

Friday, May 17 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at  Body ‘n Sole and on race day at the Mahomet-Seymour HS parking lot from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

Parking and Registration

Check-in will be in the WEST parking lot of the Mahomet-Seymour High School on the corner of Crowley Rd and State St in Mahomet.  Participants will walk about 400m from the high school to the race start. There is no parking at the race start/finish (the very small Lake of the Woods parking lot).

Awards

Awards for the overall and master male and female champions, and the top three male and female runners in the following age groups: under 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.  Random prizes also awarded to both walkers and runners.  No awards will be mailed.
