Buffalo Trace Trail Race
5 Mile Trail Run
Saturday, May 13, 2017
The race takes place at the Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve (https://goo.gl/maps/ndarCZaGWfN2) in Mahomet, IL. Mahomet is located at the intersection of I-74 and Hwy 47 about 10 miles west of Champaign. Registration and check-in will be on the west side of the high school (https://goo.gl/maps/PBfaYuUHqev).
The course is a 5-mile trail run near an old buffalo trace or trail created by a massive herd of buffalo. The 5-mile course will traverse rolling hills, small forests, open meadows and prairie. This is a trail race. There could be hidden rocks and roots, sharp turns, and even water or mud. Lots of fun, but be careful.
Course Map - The map was created by Donald Luman (http://bit.ly/2eRTibf). Aerial photography used for the base image was collected in March, 2005.
