Trail:

We are in Spring Turkey season. Please respect the hunters and do not run the trail before 1 PM until the season closes (last day is May 17)

The course runs clean... no trash left behind after the race... thanks to all racers and any volunteers who helped keep our beautiful trail... beautiful.

Maintenance will begin earlier than usual this year... the nettle is growing rapidly. Anyone interested in helping with mowing the trail, please contact:

bob 217-778-2256

FMITA owns a self-propelled walk behind mower. The help is more for safety (accompanying the person mowing) than performing the mowing itself. All help is appreciated.

Thanks to all the volunteers! Fantastic job!

Course

One or three loops of 10 mile trail through forest, hills, and meadows at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area.  Almost all single-track trail except for small section on road & bridge that connects two sides of the trail loop around the lake.  About 1500 feet of elevation gain per loop.  Two full aid stations each loop (start/finish & half-way), but runners should bring a water bottle.  The trail is in excellent condition. Mike Martin continues to work hard on improvements and with typical trail maintenance. There is a new re-direct on the "long" side, about half way, to avoid a very steep and eroded downhill segment. Runners will now jog left and then switch back to the right before re-entering the old trail to cross the bridge at the bottom of the hill.

This is a trail run so be careful about rocks, roots, and logs on the course.
