30 Mile Race
Start: 7:00 am
Time limit: 9 hours (see cutoff rules)
Runner limit of 125.
Race direction tba, but 2020 will NOT be washing machine style (i.e. you will run all three loops the same way, instead of the middle loop being opposite as we did in 2018).
Cost
$70 through December 1, 2019
$80 through January 1, 2020
$90 through March 1, 2020
A 50% refund will be available through February 1 if a waitlisted runner takes your space. A 25% refund will be available through March 1 if a waitlisted runner takes your space. No refunds for drops in March, though your spot will be offered to a waitlisted runner if applicable.
Cutoffs:
12:00pm (5 hours) cutoff to start your last loop (leave the start finish at mile 20).
1:30pm (6.75 hours) cutoff to leave the Iron Bridge Bar and Grill (mile 24.5 or 25.5 depending on race direction)
No Cups: you are encouraged to carry a handheld bottle or carry a collapsable cup or flask for liquid fueling at our two aid stations. There are a variety of options out there and most cost less than $10, including shipping. This is to reduce the amount of trash created!
No Pacers: It's just 30 miles. You will make a new friend to run with.
No Early Starts: This is due to misuse of early starts in the past, as well as a desire to make sure the faster runners are not endangering themselves or others when passing people early in the race. We never turn off the clock until the last runner has crossed the finish line!
Over the last several years our event has donated most of our race proceeds to the Red Cross (midwest tornado relief), donations to Warrior Hike (a combat veteran's program) and to the Kickapoo Rail Trail (a new bike trail connecting Urbana with Danville). Our plan is to again donate to Warrior Hike in 2020.
Many hours of donated time and labor from our volunteers keep the Clinton Trail open to use throughout the year. Visit our Clinton Lake Ultra Facebook group for updates and discussions.

Course: Three loops of 10 mile trail through forest, hills, and meadows at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area. Almost all single-track trail except for small section on road & bridge that connects two sides of the trail. There are 1355 feet of elevation gain per loop. Two full aid stations each loop (start/finish & half-way), but runners should bring a water bottle. We would like to limit the use of paper cups to a minimum.
